Records Management

It is JPL Policy that all records, whether in hard copy or electronic form, created or received by JPL and on-site contractor employees in the conduct of performing JPL work are institutional property. The retention of these records is based on contractual and Caltech requirements. (See Records Management in JPL Rules!)

Frequently Asked Questions

Records Liaison Program

Records Liaisons are responsible for ensuring that a section, division or project creates and maintains a List of Records Categories, and that the organization creates, captures, organizes and preserves its records in accordance with the Records Management requirement (JPL Rules! DocID 46333).

Records Liaisons are the records management points of contact for records-related questions from anyone within their organization. Records Liaisons work interactively with the JPL Records Manager to ensure organizational alignment with records management policies and procedures.

The Records Liaisons Program DocuShare Collection contains guidance information for Records Liaisons and their organizations.
