Charitable Giving at JPL

JPL has a long history of charitable giving, under Dr. Pickering and other Directors. For at least five decades, the Laboratory has supported Community Chest, United Crusade, and United Way, collected food and toys for distribution during the holidays, and sponsored several blood drives each year. Dr. Pickering posed with local scouts in 1971 to celebrate the success of United Crusade, which supported services and programs at local charities and American Red Cross chapters.
