 Pickering's National Medal of Science
In 1975, Dr. Pickering was awarded the National Medal of Science, which was presented by President Gerald Ford at a White House ceremony on October 18, 1976. This was one of many awards that Dr. Pickering received over his lifetime. Recognition of his achievements came not only from the United States, but also from France, Great Britain, Italy, Japan, and New Zealand.
