In 1953, more than 450 new and used toys were collected at JPL and donated to the Boys and Girls Aid Society of Pasadena, to be given to children who might not have received any other toys. The effort was led by nine members of the Toy Committee, who also repaired and refurbished toys, as needed. Almost 50 years later, the holiday toy collection is a continuing tradition at JPL.
