Malina Visits JPL

Dr. Pickering acted as host to a great number of important visitors during his time as Director. In April 1966, former JPL Acting Director Dr. Frank Malina returned to the Laboratory with his wife, Marjorie, and their two sons. He is shown here with Alan, 14, and Roger, 16, talking to Dr. Pickering in the JPL museum. The Malina family was living in Paris in 1966, when they made this visit to the United States. According to Roger Malina, Dr. Pickering and Dr. Malina maintained a close relationship after Malina left JPL. Dr. Pickering gave one of the eulogies at Frank Malina's funeral in 1981.
