Pictured above is the JPL Library card catalog in February 1958. The Library officially opened its doors to the JPL community in the summer of 1951, in a small room in the west wing of the administration building (111). Since 1951, the Library has grown from a small reading room housing a few hundred scientific books and journals to an information center that services thousands of JPL and contractor employees. Today the Library offers an integrated online collection management system available internally to JPL customers, as well as to the general public.
